you should use lava rock in the filter, the porosity / surface area means it can hold many many times more beneficial bacteria than smooth stones. love the build!

So important for as many gardens as possible, to have a wildlife pond.
I had one and got some pond weed from the local park and it was full of fish eggs and water batman lava, etc Fish hatched and lived happily for over six years.
Dragon flies visited the pond along with frogs and newts plus the famous water skaters

the prefilter for the pump is a great idea … i used to have to clean the pump when something clogged it up
