It almost seems like Firstnet is prioritizing connection stability over speed. Would be interesting to see if that's actually the case.

What I don’t understand about Firstnet is that are their phones locked on to band 14? Shouldn’t it choose a faster band when there’s no congestion? And in congestion, emergencies, connect to band 14 with priority? I’ve gotten about 175-200 down on band 12, seems like band 14 should do better with such little traffic on it.

Do they up the speed and prioritize once an emergency is declared on their system? Our county used Verizon cards before going to the state system which always made me think first net was set for specific users at specific times. They did eat a bag of rocks when Verizon went down and their MDTs all went down for a few hours during the day. They don't have the old map page info for fire and police units move around so much it is hard for them to memorize the whole city since they never used the map page system before MDT GPS became the norm.

Odd that it didn’t connect to 5g+. My Firstnet line regularly sits on 5g+ with speeds of 800-900 down.

85 down, and 18 up is not bad at all. I mean nothing to write Home about, but definitely respectable speeds. I’m thinking the server you’re downloading the game From is probably bogged down?

You’re missing the point of Firstnet. First net is designed if mass traffic data crashes networks in the event of catastrophic event. Its default is satellite communications then goes to land cables for backup support. First net only shines when all civilian telecommunications are over loaded or compromised.

Yes! I currently have FirstNet in Pennsylvania and it is absolutely horrible! I do not recommend it. My wife has consumer AT&T, and the coverage and speed is way better! It’s crazy

I wonder if you have to go into the deep phone settings to set for all bands? I know on my Pixel 7 I can go into the special settings and choose if I want LTE only or 5g priority with LTE backup. The reason I ask is that my 5g is slower at my house due to distance and I usually just keep the phone on LTE only, plus you get better battery life by 50%.

Your probably connected to tower close by h that has band 14 and one next to you don’t

You are probably in a very busy area that causes your internet to slow down from a bunch of AT&T connections or it’s just their service in the area

If lives depend on being able to download important massive files and apps fast then First Net is not an option.

When they say they prioritize it, it’s most probably for voice and text. I doubt if it’s for data, especially for “emergencies”
