Contemporary Drummer +1 'Garden Wall'

My version of this salsa/funk/fusion tune from Dave Weckl's early 1990's playalong package for drummers. These tunes come with a chart/score that allows the player to interpret the song for themselves within a clear framework of ideas given by the man himself. This is just as well as if you listen to Dave's playing on the tracks you are likely to throw your sticks out of the window and walk away! I had fun with this one but I will always compare my version to Weckl's and therefore need to practise a lot more!

Not simply a cover of the original. This performance has breath and air with its sophisticated use of cymbal punctuations. Not too crash volume heavy nor over gated production wise this allowing us listeners enjoy the dynamic control of a professional along with the natural and true sound and decay of the cymbals being played. The overall playing, timing and touch of this particular drummer is showcased brilliantly here demonstrating the actual musical application of drum playing and it's parts to a song. Despite the mix favouring the drum part as the sonic focus, ie not blended or equalised to the track, the drummer shows amazing grace with his volume control and musical choice. I'm impressed, nothing bad to say at all tbh. I love it!
