For over 2 centuries the rich ports of New Spain where under attack by English, French and Dutch pirates, very litte affections and very well defended. Interestingly, there is a whole exhibition of fortresses in Mexico, the better known is San Juan de Ulua, the largest San Carlos Perote.
San Francisco de Campeche one of the 35 world heritage sites in wonderful Mexico. The country with the largest number in America or The Americas.

in campeche there´s also archeological sites like Edzna (there´s a train station, hotel and museums) and El tigre and others natural sites even unlit areas where you can see tpart of milky way.

I hope you had a chance to visit Forth San Miguel, it is a small museum but it has a really nice collection of masks and little artwork from Mayans and I loved the view from there to the ocean

Un dato interesante:
Originalmente el mar llegaba hasta el muro por el que pasaste y la llamada "Puerta de Mar" era el puerto donde los barcos con mercancias llegaban.
Y apenas a mediados del siglo XX fue que se rellenó para hacer lo que es el malecón actual.
