"I don't speak Spanish" is my favourite quote relating to a Babymetal verse. Channelling Ron Burgendy.

"I don't speak Spanish..." I was Rolling!!!!

I can't help but think that she may have been thinking of The Warning!

My favorite part of this video is the EC guys singing "Fufu" during the "Bun bun bun" refrain. It's two German metal singers providing the Japanese onomatopoeia for a schoolgirl giggle and that just makes me smile.

You should check out Babymetal monochrome piano version to hear the voice of Su-Metal in the purist form. I’d like to hear your thought on that

Do yourself a favor and watch Babymetal "Monochrome" on The First Take. Su is a VERY accomplished singer, especially for age...

The harmony between Niko and Su is perfect. Su's voice shines even brighter live.

Veronna welacome to the Fox hole Su-Metal is known for her precision, power, vowels and sustain . They made a video for the First take channel called Monochrome piano version.

For BABYMETAL I would suggest recent live performances of their songs Monochrome, Road of Resistance, and Megitsune, from their PIA Arena 2023 concerts.

Babymetal are the three girls, with Su-metal as the lead vocalist, and Moametal and Momometal as backup; Momo also does harsh vocals. Su is known for her vowels. A good song to hear that is Monochrome, I would choose the PIA Arena Live version. Another good song is Megitsune.

Great first reaction ... you will love Su-metal's vocals if you watch more of their videos ... but please use live performances so you get her natural voice without all the over-processing etc of the studio recordings.

Even among Japanese speakers her vowels, diction and pronunciation are exceptionally clear and very precise when she sings.
I once read a comment from someone who had hearing problems and had never enjoyed music at all ... until he heard Su-metal singing. Her voice was the first thing he had ever heard that was clear to him. He was inspired to buy the best hearing aids and devices just to listen to her singing and for the first time in his life he was able to really understand and enjoy music.

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed the live debut and the second performance of RATATATA by BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy together in the two-day Fox_Fest on May 25 / 26 (Japan time) . Fun, happy, exhilarating, bubbly. Those words I could think of, as you can imagine. The song was played in the BABYMETAL's setlist in the festival. So the band in the back of the girls and Nico / Kevin was BM's West Kami Band in place of EC band that played in this MV. That was great, too.
The interchangeability between the two versatile bands is good. EC boys can join BM concerts and BM girls can show up in EC's worldwide 😍

ありがとう!🦊
SU-METAL's voice is an integer overtone, and her singing style is unique even for a Japanese.
The piano version of Monochrome (The First Take), Karate, Akatsuki, and Megitsune may be easily recognized.
Please do send us your next BABYMETA reaction video.😚

You made a great point about vowels, and of course that's a characteristic of the Japanese language.
BABYMETAL's lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) is known for the clarity of her singing.
Her articulation is really great.
And she does it while dancing. : )

Yes, spoken Japanese and Spanish have pretty much the same vowels, consonant and consonant+vowel sounds, that’s why it’s easier for us to understand and speak Japanese. (Kanjis are a nightmare in any case)

I can write down a Babymetal song in romaji easily, because Su-metal’s singing it’s so clear and precise, even with the heavy metal band behind her, it’s easy to understand.

If you'd like to hear the best example of BABYMETAL's vocals, check out the version of their song 'Monochrome' on 'the channel The First Take'. You can watch the same song performed live too to get a feel for what it typically sounds like.

Hi Verona, welcome to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥
This could have been a great song for your partner to analyze the growlings, . either you're such a lovely vocal coach I've ever met, but I gotta be honest you kinda remind me another Canadian reactor it's been a long time since I don't see her.
Here's a brief info about this Japanese group:

BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
They are:
*SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year.
-YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018.
None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.

There's no other group like them around and teaming up with this group from Germany just elevated them even higher.
If you like Jpop and edm elements then you gonna find a lot of cool songs blended with heavy metal in their latest album "The Other One" released last year. Songs like Divine Attack - Shingeki, METALIZM, Time Wave and Light and Darkness among other great songs as well tracks and live performance from early era will make you bounce and rock with this amazing group.

Last weekend they did the live premiere of this song in Japan at FOX_FEST (a festival held by BM) and everyone went wild with this collab.
The girl in the middle is the lead singer SuMetal and she actually dance less than the other girls (MoaMetal and MomoMetal) because she sings most of the time but regardless she can dance and sing and you won't even notice she's out of breath.
Btw in this collab during the chorus one of the singers of EC is singing along with SuMetal from BabyMetal that's why it sounds different, you can notice that in the section when she's singing in Japanese.
And talking about rap she loves to do that and you can hear it in a song called BxMxC live at Budokan 2021 is the best way to enjoy it.

Next suggestion to enjoy a little bit more of her vocal technique:
- Monochrome live at Makuhari Messe 2023

I totally get what you said about the pure vowels.
Btw it is said that in Japan there is one of biggest disco ball in the world, but don't quote that on me.
Thanks again for sharing your vocal analysis and hope to see you around with more BM songs.
See you next time 🦊🤘❤

Great review! To really hear Suzuka Nakamoto's wonderful vocal abilities, I recommend two incredible Babymetal ballads: No Rain No Rainbow, and Akatsuki.

As you mentioned a workout and weightlifting and cardio.
Electric Callboy - Pump it. The ULTIMATE workout song.
The after workout song would be "Pump it (velvet version" that even would be more interesting for you, as it is only clean Nico)

And when you are home you might think. I would like some "Babymetal - Gimme chocolate", which works as cardio workout very well too. And as you only saw Babymetal 1st time here, you might be shocked, as that video is 10+ years.
