Tell me your thoughts on the Xiaomi Mijia vs Firefly 8SE, which did you like better for image quality and stabilization?

Getting tougher and tougher. Both look great!
The 8SE plasticky construction has a big advantage and that is weight. If you use the camera to take aerial videos from drones and planes. The 8SE wins hands down being about 40grams lighter than the Mija.

Xiaomi Mijia is outstanding for the money, it looked just as good as the Firefly 8SE.

Firefly 8SE wins in my book. At 3:11 and after, looking at the very top wire on the electric pole behind the shed. The top wire is much more in focus and distinct with the 8SE than the Mijia. The wire is a fine detail for any camera to pickup with an overpowering sky surrounding, so I'd trust the 8SE more because it pulled the shot off better.

mijia footage seems to be little more stable but s8e color is more vibrant.

The Firefly just by a bit. The mijia is a heck of a camera for the price. Why 30 FPS and not 60? I picked up a Phantom 4, and just wow.

The firefly had much better details... keep your eye on the grass... it was sharp and you could see blades of grass... the Mijia 4K looked far less detailed and blurry. But for image stabilisation I could see some jerks in the video with the firefly... but the mijia remained smooth. The contrast and blacks are very deep with the Mijia when filming in sunlight from the many reviews I have seen and you loose details in the dark areas like the shadows compared to some other cameras (esp the Gopro). I am guessing the firefly will be able to pull more detail from the shadows. Both are in the same price bracket nearly where I reside in Thailand. Actively looking for a replacement for my lost Hero 4 silver.

Hello, been gone for a while (the flu) but anyways, the budget camera seems to work really well for it's price and holds its own. Cheers

Both look about equal with the 8SE being more saturated in color with slightly better detail but the stabilization was equal with a slight edge to the Mija. Never been a fan of time lapse so that doesn't matter

Both at the same level with stabilization but i give the Mijia the edge because i'm seeing slightly less dark shades from the Mijia.

The Mijia looked to be a bit more jerky on the video.

I'm having problems with the 8SE, im recording in 1080p 60fps, the quality is very bad, bad saturation and not detailed on the contours, plus when i record it stops after "x" min and the starts again, in a 1h record i have like 7 files with different sizes.
