IS SAFE SURGERY POSSIBLE IF THER ARE A LOT OF TUMORS IN THE LIVER?
The liver is one of the most important organs of our body. It has a complex vascular structure. There are 2 main vessels that feed the liver. And the 3 main vessels in the liver drain this blood towards the heart. In the presence of a large number of tumors, it is important to perform the surgery without damaging theese vessels. This extensive vascular network within the liver makes surgery complex. It is important to protect these vessels, especially when there are too many tumors, in order to preserve the maximum liver tissue in the patient and to minimize the risk of failure. The method that helps and guides us the most during the surgery is the use of ultrasonography in addition to the surgical technique. In this way, it becomes possible to perform surgery without damaging the vessels by removing only tumor tissues and to preserve the maximum liver tissue in the patient.
IF THERE ARE MANY TUMORS IN THE LIVER, IS SURGERY POSSIBLE?
The number of liver tumors is one of the most important factors affecting surgical success.
Even though the number of tumors in the liver is high today, it is possible to perform the most complicated liver surgeries with the use of ultrasonography. For this, it is important that the surgeon's experience in this field and the center is a specialized center. The goal is to leave as much liver tissue as possible while removing all tumors in the liver tissue.
Therefore, the use of ultrasound in surgery is very important. It is also very important to measure the capacity of the liver by performing tests such as indocyanine greens. In preoperative planning, besides calculating the volume of the remaining tissue of the liver with tomography, it is necessary to use specialized techniques such as calculating the minimum amount of liver tissue that the patient should have according to his height and weight. When we bring all these together, even if there are many tumors, this surgery can be performed on people who are suitable for surgery.
