Track from Inside (1982).

**About Ronnie Milsap**
Born nearly completely blind, he became one of the most successful and versatile country "crossover" singers of his time, appealing to both country and pop music markets with hit songs that incorporated pop, R&B, and rock and roll elements. His biggest crossover hits include "It Was Almost Like a Song", "Smoky Mountain Rain", "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me", "I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World", "Any Day Now", and "Stranger in My House".

Milsap was sent to Raleigh's Governor Morehead School for the Blind, and that is where he discovered a deep love of music, cultivated by close listening to radio broadcasts. Encouraged by his teachers, Milsap began studying classical music, and while he learned several instruments, he gravitated toward piano. Already a fan of country and R&B, he became obsessed with rock & roll once it hit in 1965. Soon, he was playing in a teenage rock & roll outfit called the Apparitions, which kept him busy until he headed to Georgia's Young Harris College on a full scholarship.

Music kept calling and he did not complete his pre-law program. He continued playing clubs and ended up joined a touring band. Then he signed with Scepter Records who put out “Never Had It So Good” which became Milsap’s first charting hit reaching 19 on Billboard’s R&B chart.

Milsap’s story continues as he is credited with six Grammy Awards and 35 number-one country hits, third to George Strait and Conway Twitty. He was selected for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

For anyone who is alone and struggling with emotional pain- know that you are not alone. God loves you and others do as well. Hang in there. I know from experience that it is extremely hard to battle each day alone, but heaven awaits one day and the full spectrum experience of Christ welcoming me. ❤️

I've always thought this guy's music was a notch above the normal twangy country music. What a voice!!🎉

My 14-yr-old boy loves this stuff! He falls asleep to classic country every night. I guess I'm doing something right.

The decision to record this softly and as almost a musing was brilliant. Milsap's delivery makes the song tragically ironic and infinitely sad - the singer is forced to just watch as his love unravels, powerless to do anything to stop it. Such a memorable performance.

Burt bacharach is a true artist. This is a masterpiece. Good choice to have Ronnie sing this song.
