WHO WE ARE
SkyFi Audio is a small startup business specializing in the purchase, reconditioning, and reselling of select high end audio equipment. We only buy equipment that we admire and are passionate about. No mid-fi, no gimmicks, and no junk.

Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. If it does not meet or exceed the original manufactures specifications, it will not be sold. We are very selective about the equipment we purchase, focusing on mostly analog, high-build quality, American, and European built units.

The Little Fwend Disco is the upgrade to get, its functional and convenient!

My biggest complaint with this table is the VTA is adjustable in the wrong direction. I’m using a crystal mat since I can’t lower the arm enough for some cartridge/headshell combos. The differences with the KAB are pretty minor, I’ve been able to lower anti-skate a bit, and audibly the bass seems to have tightened up a bit. The liquid settles in a day. About the only other change I’d consider is a separate power supply, but I’d be hard pressed to lay down that kind of $, especially since I thought I was saving so much over the table I was thinking of getting. Also, I’ve found this table is very particular with cable type. I wish the power cord and RCA jacks weren’t so tucked away, definitely limits the cable size and connectors you can use. I’ve had my table almost 3 years and love it. Back when DD tables like this were the rage in the 70’s & 80’s, I couldn’t afford extra carts. Then I had belt drive and couldn’t swap carts without it turning into a project. Definitely a high point with this table!

The 1200 G needs no upgrade. The turntable is perfect.

Yeah, I think I’m going to choose the Little Fwend.

Is SL1200G still made in Japan or did they move them to Malaysia factory?

Al di là dell"effetto estetico forse può dare qualche beneficio sulla forza da applicare all'antiskating, ma non penso che ci siano grandi benefici sul suono, lo dimostra la frequenza di risonanza del braccio con il disco test che resta praticamente uguale.

I prefer to isolate the entire turntable not just the tonearm.. the damper is a good upgrade but I go a different route as the KAB unit is limited in it's appeal - no oxygen (so to speak) copper wires are a better upgrade for the turntable both headshell and internal ect.. . I don't like that plinth that turntable is in - it would be resonant especially with the cheap materials used.. if it was Rubber, then go for it. I notice you take the turntable out of the plinth when you do your tests.. I guess you found out. Thanks for sharing your developments. Your stylus combo is nice it must sound smooth.

For me, part of the appeal to playing vinyl is seeing the record sticker art spin around. Thats why I dislike using record weights as it covers the sticker art on the record.

Does the weight of the wooden plinth cover and the record weight impact the isolation feet? I can't imagine those are adding a ton of weight, but they aren't adding nothing and you did say the feet were really built for the table, which I assume means in stock form.

I have a KAB damping trough on my 1200GR. For me it makes the tonearm less excitable and made the anti-skate require less tension to get it working well, it does seem to effect the frequency extreme's the most. Whether you like this or not is another matter, once I got used to the calmer musical presentation I really began to appreciate the difference. The two cartridges I use are a Benz Ruby Z and a Shelter 901 III so not the normal carts people will be familiar with.

You mention you prefer the original mat. The mat in this video has 8 holes around the circumference. My SL-1200G mat (TEFX5019) does not have these.. Please explain.

Then, "Just about the same. Not much of a change." So why do you recommend this?

A tip on the silicone damping fluid: the best way of cleaning any spills or stray drops is to use 90% isopropyl alcohol.

Also, the video's image quality of the tone arm's pivot mechanism is fantastic! Great lighting and focus.

The wooden outer shell & dustcover turn one of the most "mundane" lookin' turntables in the game into somethin' purdy...

Ortofon Concorde Gold would go perfect with the 1200 or 1300G!!
