Former President Donald Trump pledged a renaissance for the Michigan auto industry and manufacturers in an address on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 to the Detroit business community. But not without blaming Democrats for the host city’s ills. For close to two hours at a private event with the Detroit Economic Club, the Republican nominee trumpeted a familiar list of America-first economic and trade policy goals that, he said, would yield thousands of new or higher-paying jobs and a return of foreign factories to U.S. soil.
