In the UK, on the borders of Dagenham and Essex, a doomed row of soon-to-be demolished terraced houses have received some unexpected tenants…

A group of migrants have set-up home in the squalid conditions and are squatting illegally. There is no running water, waste collections, or other amenities and the group are quickly creating their own environmental hazard by simply throwing waste outside the house. As a result, they have attracted an army of rats.

Council Enforcers. Rob and Rob feel sympathy for the folk simply wanting a roof over their head, but the amount of waste (and vermin!) accumulated requires immediate action. Since the land is private property it is the owner’s responsibility to arrange the clean-up, so they quickly track him down and it’s not long before a big grabber arrives.

As a Canadian, it's confusing how much British law and British courts actually protect squatters. Until the law changes, squatting is a civil matter only and not a criminal offense. The problem will return.

Absolutely pointless clearing it up whilst the squatters are STILL there, I have zero sympathy for squatters leaving what is essentially a free house in that type of state and you can guarantee it’ll be that state again if not worse in a week or so. Boils my blood it really does..

I do asbestos abatement and that has me working in a lot of condemned buildings. There are some places where people have been squatting for years and it can be a straight up hazmat situation.
