I used to live in Jerusalem in 1985 to 1986. The Jerusalem Hospital called me asking me to come work as Mime/Clown to help people ‘s moral, and for the Children. I just need to get there and find a place to stay. They still don’t have resources. I would do it as volunteer if I can .

Im planning a trip to Israel for my son's Bar Mitzvah THIS June. Ive been once b4 in 2010 on a JNF tour but this will be the 1st trip for my hubby and kids. We are Modern Orthodox (Observe the Sabbath, keep Kosher, kids in private Jewish school, belong to lrg MO shul (where we kind of get lost) ) and ppl come and go from Israel on a regular basis. If there are flights in/out, ppl from my community will gladly travel to Israel. Most of the time it is to visit family. I have not had a single person tell me its any more dangerous than traveling to ANY major city in the USA. Frankly, Id rather go to Jerusalem than Chicago these days.
1. Not only do we subscribe to Oren (he is the ONLY YT content provider that we pay every month) but will buy his Jerusalem tour. We will get a guide at least one day bc while he does have a great self tour, we will want to be lead around by a pro. The bulk of the cost of travel for us is airfare. To save $600-800USD a day on a tour guide, seems to be "penny wise, pound foolish."
2. Israel is expensive to fly to right now. I havent gotten far on planning this trip (What?!?! am I waiting for? We have been very sick w- 2x pneumonia just like the Pope. Hubby was in hospital and Ive been weak and sick) ppl tell me that way to do it is to fly the bulk of the trip and get "close" to Israel and then take a shorter trip INTO Israel.
3. The options are overwhelming but at the same time limited due to the war. Like for instance, little to no ''traditional'' JNF tours right now. Oren has mentioned a tour co and I will check this out. Im finding planning a Bar Mitzvah is not easy if you dont know exactly what you want. A big prob we have is we dont have much family (just the 4 of us) but we want a festive feel that one gets from having a celebration w- lots of ppl (family/friends).

When you mentioned the personal space and boarding etiquette, I had a chuckle. The first time I went to Israel was a lesson. It was good preparation for India! 😂😂 Having visited Israel about 10 times since then, mostly TLV, the bus station at HaHagana is sketchy. Even in the day! 😉

My dream trip. As a devout Christian, I actually fear my own emotions once I’m walking through the places that Jesus has been. I’m so thankful to Israel for keeping these places safe for us. Being anti-Israel is being anti-Christian too.
