Much of Rathfarnham Castle’s history centres around the lives and actions of men. This talk by Bríd Furlong (OPW, Rathfarnham Castle) is an attempt to bring together what we know about the women who owned and lived in Rathfarnham Castle, from Jane Loftus in the late sixteenth century to Georgina Arabella Blackburne in the early twentieth century. The talk is part of the Dublin Learning City Festival.

I would prefer research on local Irish women and not their much hated british overlords/ladies.

Thank you so much for this information. Turns out, Adam Loftus is my 15th great grandfather! Hard to find much info on him or other family from that era.

Thank you for all this great information. I’m doing genealogical studies and this is a wonderful detail about these women and their positions in life.
