just to let everyone know. if your importing a car from the uk to Ireland, the art is not the only thing you have to pay. the SAD form is also a requirement

Imported a bmw 525I from the Uk in 2016, did the vrt calc before i set off. When i got it back to Ireland i had to book the vrt appointment. Ran the calc before going in to make sure it was in and around the same. When i got to the centre they walked around took the vin etc. Then proceeeded to charge me and extra 1000 euro in vrt. When i quesrioned it they said oh its the market value of the car etc etc. I said i ran the calc on the website today. How is the car now worth more. They basically admitted that they make up the prices based on how popular certain cars are. You also have to pay and they only take complaints in writing 🤣🤣 ie the letter will prob end up in the bin. Its a total racket. Im considering another car but with the nox etc i know when i walk in i will prob be blindsided with another made up cost.

Good video, thank you. I'll be looking to import a car over the next year or so and I'm looking into options at the moment. One thing I've noted is companies such as MHH where it looks like they can get the UK removed and then you just pay Irish VAT & VRT & Nox charges. They also transport the car. Would their fees offset the benefit of not paying UK VAT? Have you looked at this option at all?

Thanks for the video. I've brought 2 Bmws and 1 bike from northern ireland before it was straight forward getting them vrt'd.
I'm thinking of getting Nissan Skyline, not sure what model yet .

Does anyone have any idea of roughly what the vrt would be on a car like that?

Question is it much more difficult to bring a car from the US into Ireland i buy classic cars but this is my first time buying one outside of Ireland I'm purchasing it from the States i wanted to know if that is any harder or easier than bringing one in from the UK any replies would be greatly appreciated thanks

Great video thanks for explaining and giving the examples, just as 2 questions, basically it is best to get a car with NI registration? I am currently checking 2015 Audi S3 (Hatchback petrol) and the VRT calculations go to €6, 518. If that car is NI reg would it reduce the price as VAT is not charged and is it so high due to the fact that the CO2 Emissions is 183 g/km?

I'm looking to buy a 1997-2001 Jeep XJ. If I buy from a country within the EU, what additional costs would I be incurring?
Guessing I will also have to pay to re-register/plate the car.
Buying from UK sounds like it will be almost double the price all said and done.
