It's Beal's contract. Yeah he was averaging 31 two seasons ago, but now after he got paid: 23 a game on a team in purgatory, while constantly getting hurt. As far as the Wizards are concerned, this is a weight off their shoulders and they can finally get going on a rebuild.

As a Wizards fan, the past few years have driven me absolutely insane. BEGGING for national media attention to rip apart the malpractice (to steal a line from JJ) of the previous front office. I could not understand why no one else was going insane over how ridiculously absurd RealBadDealBeal's contract was. The rebuild is long overdue, but it's here. The "hope" is that we finally have a front office that does not operate within a vacuum of their own delusion. The fact that they immediately came in and recognized that a teardown and rebuild was the only path to future contention is LIGHT YEARS beyond the capabilities of the previous regime. Anyone slamming the return and pinning it on Dawkins/Winger has just simply not been paying attention and is uninformed. New guys have to undo all of the abhorrent moves Tommy Sheppard made with Ted's okay before they can start executing their vision. You cannot fathom how frustrating it has been, simply having a direction is enough hope for me. It will be a long road, but the good days are ahead!

I feel like jjs point on the difference of pay between vet minimums and mid level guys actually proves the opposite since the minimum has increased from 2.5 mil to 7 mil

Even at averaging 22-23pts 5 assist a gm for Beal this upcoming season is a huge win for Phoenix. As long as he scores timely buckets in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter it’s a win! And has some sort of resurgence to his best form on defense.
