Apparently this study isn’t real? It was covered by various news outlets, but keep in mind the results may be fake and/or exaggerated. Still a productive discussion though.

As a female collector, the only item on that list I didn’t care for was the online trolling. The only issue I have with my hubby’s hobbies is that his Voltrons are competing for space with my Hot Toys.

I can explain from a fem perspective, why I believe #1 and #2 least attractive hobbies are gaming and collecting figures, even though i am a former gamer and current collector myself .

It is because those hobbies are viewed as “ immature “ . Like i have mentioned before, the moment a man is losing a debate with me online, they would check my profile, see my figures and tell me “ go play with your dolls “. Because by implying i am immature has to somehow discredit me.

And on the topic, for men being immature that’s rather way too common . We see in het relationships, the male partner doing no “ chores “ waiting for his female partner to tell him what to do, to cook for him etc, basically to be his mother ( with benefits lol), and women as a whole have grown sick and tired of babying men . So, because of that hobbies that the society views as immature - playing games, collecting dolls, women would see as a bigger indication of an immature person who won’t be an equal partner .

I’m not saying, that’s always going to be true, but that’s how people see it, and that’s why those two are the top 2 most unattractive hobbies .

The problem is not the fact we collect toys, its the fact 95 percent of collectors hoard and their toys take over there home !!!
YouTube has given everyone fomo and when that new 200 dollar toy comes out. Your gal will be left out !!!

I wonder whether an unobserved variable of the lack of hygiene and being overweight has to do something with the results of the collectors and video gamers. Sadly, as people are completely absorbed by a hobby, they are not aware of their body odours and appearance.

My beekeeping hobby cancels out my 6th scale collecting of Star Wars, '89 Batman and other pop culture related. lol. I can say, beekeeping is cheaper but physically harder!

I am a woman who actually collects! I was so horrified when I saw those statistics. As a collector, I make it my mission to inspire people and bring a smile to people's faces! No one's happiness should be sacrificed for what we perceive as love. If anyone wants you to give up ANYTHING that is not a bad habit, (drug Addiction, alcohol and or smoking), they may not be a good choice for long term growth!

I’m only buying the figure I personally like, I’m not buying every figure they put out. And I strategize my spending by buying 3 figures per year and strategizing at what time during the year to get the three figures and know at what time i have to do my responsibilities in case something comes up.

I don’t know if I exactly put hot toys in the same category as action figures. They are way more impressive than your typical action figure. I kno my wife (gf) at the time thought my collection was really neat and she always was impressed with how life like they look. Now our daughter enjoys looking at them and can name all the characters haha

I actually got my girlfriend into collecting herself. She was already nerdy, into other things such as anime and so dating me only made it easier for her to expand her collection. Especially knowing from which sites to buy from or which deals were worth it and such. Been together 8 years now .

If a woman doesn't like my hobby then she isn't the one for me. The same goes for everyone that's a collector.
