Title: Topological Methods in Discrete Geometry

Abstract: In the last decades there have been many instances where ideas and concepts from algebraic topology have been successfully applied to problems in discrete geometry. In this talk, I will highlight two areas where topological methods have turned out to be particularly powerful: mass partitions and Helly-type theorems. For both areas I will present topological proofs of classical results and showcase different directions in which they have been generalized in recent years.
