In 2018, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) awarded the Maltz Prize for Innovative and Promising Schizophrenia Research to Dr. Kristen Brennand of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

She presented this fascinating talk on stem cells and schizophrenia at BBRF's 2018 International Mental Health Research Symposium.

To find a cure for schizophrenia, we need to know the molecular basis of the diseases. So far it was difficult to the study every SNV or CNVs in schizophrenia. It is difficult to establish functional assay for disease like schizophenia in petridish and animal model. Still researchers are doing their best in finding a cure for schizophrenia. I am sure dedicated scientist like Kristen Brennan will pave the way for the cure.

I hope it can also be "fixed" as well as prevented. My son had zero risk factors. Everything Ive read about possible known risk factors is/was a "no" ...still perplexed, but we are getting through it. Im not a medical person, but I read and listen to everything I can get my hands on about this illness. You were a weeee bit over my head, but hey....I listened the the entire thing.

Is it possible that it is a defect in the C 4 gene? I’ve heard this several times before.

Possibly using Bionano star gene sequencing can help find the cause

The problem today, is that most people think that something small can fully encompass something much bigger. For example, many people are certain of many things. To be certain of something, you must know of that something, absolutely. Thus no stone would be left unturned, concerning your knowledge of it. And so if you were certain that schizophrenia was a mental illness, then obviously you would know of schizophrenia, absolutely. Nothing would be left of it that is to be still learned. However, if you thought that schizophrenia was a mental illness, yet you know not of schizophrenia in the absolute sense, then it is clear that you believe that you can fully encompass something, without having to fully encompass it at all. But this of course is total madness. This concept of believing that a lesser can fully encompass a greater, is truly insane.  To believe that you can see its entirety, and thus define it as a mental illness, yet not be seeing its entirety at the same time, is completely crazy.

Before you do anything, first you must prove that you are in touch with reality. After all, if you can't explain reality to today's physicists, then obviously you are not in touch with reality. How can you NOT know of the very thing of which you claim to be in touch with. If you know what schizophrenia actually is, then you will understand quantum mechanics far better than do today's physicists.
