It’s weird bc they set up Byakugan to be the best doujutsu at first but then Kishi just loved the Uchiha so much that he forgot about everything else he wrote before. Unfortunately we didn’t even get a Byakugan vs Sharingan battle in the main series.

It's actually the Hyuga themselves that make the Byakugan seem weak. Unlike the Uchiha who fight at a distance the Hyuga limit themselves to tijustu almost exclusively. I would summit they would make the best puppet users, since they can keep track of almost the entire battlefield at once and can control chakra from every chakra point meaning without body mods they can control over 300 puppets.

My best guess? The Byakugan has a learning curve to it, which requires not only that a wielder have talent, but also time and dedicated practice in order to get to the pinnacle of their abilities. It's a fair trade-off for not having to get PTSD in order to awaken their powers.

The worst bit is that it ISN'T weak, nobody is using it right, not even the hyuga.

With the Byakugan you instantly have:
-Full knowledge of what tools your foe has, as you can see through clothing. You know what tool they are going to use as soon as they grab it.
-All injuries you foe has, if any, and all of how they get injured during the battle.
-360* vision that has been show to go at least up to 10km or further.
-Knowledge of how your foe is going to move, if you have trained yourself to recognize muscle movements.
-The possibility to copy jutsu like the sharingan, given you can see chakra in much greater detail than it, and could conceivably copy their seals and chakra movement.
-Impressive genjutsu resistance.

And with more time I could and have thought of other uses.

-The ability to block your opponents Chakra flow, preventing them from using their own jutsu.
-Palm Rotation is effectively rinnegans push, granting impressive physical defenses as needed.
-Then as the video listed, destroying jutsu.

Clearly it is not a matter of it being weak, I would argue a properly used byakugan is possibly stronger than an MS. Why no one ever uses it to its full effect is beyond me, and apparently others too.

The Byakugan was turned into a Sharingan lite, even though it's supposed to be better. The ability to see the weak points in something like a fireball would make sense. It's dumb the Sharingan can see chakra through walls. If I recall, Sasuke couldn't see Deidara's clay mist through the trees. 1 had x-ray and zoom, the other didn't. It's dumb the Sharingan has become the old style of Byakugan.... with a Susanoo.... and high tier Genjutsu.... and the ability to change reality.... and unique awakenings per person.... and the ability to copy other people's Jutsu....

Stick no Jutsu is too broken.

In the original anime it was looked at as the more refined version of the sharingan but then Kishimoto added all of these insane upgrades to the sharingan and it now makes the byakugan look like the little brother

The only reason that sharingan is so strong is because it's a plot device that does whatever the writer needs it to do change my mind.

The issue is the sharingan was given the abilities of the Byakugan had. At the same time, their abilities were going to overlap because the both perceives chakra.

I think this boils down to Kishimotos use of the Hyuga clan rather than the clan itself. The guy just favored the Uchiha loads more than the Hyuga so we were allowed to see the geniuses of the clan master the sharingan to its fullest while the byakugan was treated like so many side characters in Naruto.

I’ve always said the byakugan was overlooked and underrated, although kaguya was the only one to show it but the byakugan is capable of telepathy, mind reading, and clairvoyance, she read hamuras mind, she was able to mind control him using the byakugan, she was able to explode people with it, obviously see far away, and exert force seen when she pushed hamura back during her interrogation

I found it weird that they all have the ability to see chakra signature and much greater detail of what’s going on at incredible distances yet they all fight up close instead of the entire clan being the most lethal, long distance sniper assassins.
