Obama May Allow 5 Million Immigrants to Stay in the US

US President Barack Obama is to unveil a series of executive actions on immigration that will shield up to five million immigrants living illegally in the United States against deportation, according to advocates close to the White House.

The estimate includes extending deportation protections to parents and spouses of US citizens and permanent residents who have been in the country for some years. The president is also likely to expand his two-year-old programme that protects young immigrants from deportation.
