you can do the same thing at lvl 6 or 7 when asked to run to your first town - run there and turn in the quest, but don't accept the next one... then run to the governor of your chosen town

Good video, but I would recommend waiting, do the beach, complete quest at town, don't accept new quest then meet up at the town you want. That low of level too many people will run into issues and die a most heinous death. Much frustration would set in.

Don't forget to make your gathering tools before you do anything else. if you find Iron or other materials it will speed everything else up

What would've been faster is add each other to friends, he send you an invite whilst in monarchs bluff and you're in tutorial. You can't accept the invite but you'll zone in the area your friend is in ;)

If you die during the run, but you are over half way, Do you go all the way back to where you started or do you have the choice to go to the nearest settlement?

I would recommend skipping tutorial and keep remaking the character until it's in the correct starting location. It's quicker than running risking dying. I went from First Light to Monarch's Bluff and I almost died to level 10+ mobs. Devs need to allow us to pick which starting location either at character creation or at the end of the tutorial and when you skip the tutorial they ask you where you would like to start.

I heard if you group with your friends before you spawn out of the tutorial you all zone into the same spot. I couldn't try this before the beta ended so cant confirm

why dont you delete your character and restart it and it randomly goes to another town?
