I still have to admire Fowler giving Fleetwood that putt which clinched the Ryder Cup. It was no gimme, and there was still golf being played, but Fowler knew that there was no hope.

If we’re both around the same short distance early or mid match yes. Really it depends on the match play situation at hand. I’ll give short putts all day until the last handful of holes, then they haven’t already knocked in a bunch and built their confidence up.
