My ex called me regularly and visited me, for 2 years after he broke up with me. Would cuddle me up, go on trips with me, say I love you, etc. But while I was waiting for him, he was out living his single life. Was always interested to know if I was dating anyone even though he was for sure dating around. I was always holding onto that hope with all my might but it eventually the disappointment and toxicity made me say enough is enough and cut him off. He reached out to me months later, trying to see me and acting like I was the one in the wrong for cutting him off.
Selfish people are not going to let you go as long as you benefit them so you have to find the strength to let them go. Know your worth and don't be desperate.
