We just got home from our 10 trip up to Oregon and I get questions about the Jeep Wrangler 392's miles per gallon, so I thought I'd share with you what we got on this trip.

Every YouTuber with a Wrangler 392 reports roughly the same mpg (under similar conditions) but people keep asking the question over and over again, as if the wanted someone to magically get 20+ mpg out of this engine. It’s a great Jeep with a thirsty engine - accept it and enjoy it.

That’s good to know. Thanks for sharing! Really that’s not bad at all.

That’s what I get with my 2.5 5 speed jeep

got mine a few weeks ago and love it. Gas mileage is way better than expected.

interesting, considering the terrain and the trailer, the mpg value is much better than expected! at par with other trucks that do not sport a v8. thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the 392 update ... three plus more long months til my 2023 392 arrives ... your reports have been great! Thank you for sharing!

I drive a two door Jeep JK pulling a 1000 pound teardrop camper and get the same gas mileage. Definitely like the 392 concept for the power you have at your calling.

Hi Brad, You mentioned how great your lift is in one of your vids, so, I just picked up the 392 suspension, shocks, coils, and swaybar end links and will be installing it on my 2021 JLUR V6 Etorque Rockkander4x4. Many others have swapped to this with much happiness on performance. I should gain a couple inches of lift, plus I’m rolling 35” NITTO MT. With the RTT and steel front bumper and winch, I’m as heavy as the 392. Thank you for the review on that lift!!!

That mileage average is very impressive, Brad. I just may trade my van for the Jeep with the 392; and buy a trailer. My van's best average on I-5 from San Diego to Sacramento towing an 8X6 Uhaul trailer was just under 12mpg.

Thanks for this report on the 392's fuel economy on your 2, 000 plus mile trip---with trailer! Your mileage sounds fine to me under the circumstances. Thanks for this report. Welcome home!

Brad, I tell everyone who ask the same question to me about my 392 MPG’s. I tell them I get a 100 smiles per hour. It’s a HEMI powered box. It’s NOT fuel efficient, period.

I’m actually impressed. How does that compare to the fuel economy of the diesel when towing the trailer? I have the EcoDiesel in my Gladiator and love the fuel economy and towing. Had the Gladiator had like a 5.7 Hemi option, that would have been a hard choice between the diesel and a Hemi haha

Here in the UK we are paying about $13 a gallon! My current wrangler does 30 mpg on a run but will get the 4XE next time. I have the Jeep bug as it’s so unique

Not bad at all. I have towed 1000's of miles with a low top U-Haul trailer in the past 2 years. Recently I purchased a 7 foot tall Hallmark 10 foot long enclosed cargo trailer. When I towed those low top U Haul trailers, I averaged 15 MPG... With this new 7 foot tall Hallmark, I am averaging 12 mpg. I will have to design something to lessen the wind resistance for the taller trailer vs. the lower profile, rounded corners U Haul.

I think its a good idea if we can see all the scratches/damages on your jeep and the story behind those 😊

Let's be honest, at the end of the day every jeep owner puts more highway miles on their odometer than trail miles. With that kind of mpg, and today's gas prices, I'm second guessing. Eco diesel is starting to look more enticing.

Not bad at all, with my defender 130 all decked out, LS3 on 37’s I am glad to get 10 mph.

Those fuel economy gages always register better than what it actually is. Check it at the pump. Every jeep I had was probably off by 2 mpg depending on driving conditions.

I get around 12.6 in my JK 2 door With 35s and a 3.5 inch lift

I have a Sahara with a 4 cylinder. I can get 24 to 26 mpg just driving like myself. The Instang MPG display reads over 30 and sometimes over 40 when I'm cruising with a super light foot. If I drive it like I stole it, I get 20.
