Great insights but also depends on the company structure, this vary widely from company to company as some wants you to do both UI/UX, for the most part I been doing both. The main thing I would say is communication, as a designer I believe you should do both UI/UX it will make you stronger at the end of the day and you will have more opportunities.

Seems very different in overseas. In many countries in Asia, a junior level UI/UX designer requires coding skills or high level design skills. Those who leaning towards visual side will take on multimedia design (socmed design, mograph, etc) task aside from UI/UX, while the IT side will focus slicing, front end and UI design. I would be thankful if we can even survive based on your description on junior level UI/UX design. Probably time to migrate

I am a junior UI/UX designer, leaning more on the UI side of things. One of the things that I really struggle with is communication, ex- articulating design decisions, communicating with stakeholders and etc. I have been an introvert all my life and I find It difficult to talk to people in general.
