The third Patterns of Evidence movie, The Red Sea Miracle, makes the claim that Mount Sinai (also known as Mount Horeb) was located in Midian (modern Saudi Arabia). This position has been advocated by Ron Wyatt, Glen Fritz, and others. But how viable is this claim?

Loving this channel. This is the future of scholarship... making it for the people via channels like Youtube.

1 Kings 9:26 says: “King Solomon also built a fleet of ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Elathfn on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.” The Hebrew for Red Sea there is “Yam Suph.” The body of water is the Gulf of Aqaba, not some lake in Egypt. Also, your picking on the word “virtual” describing a sand bridge ignores the fact that there is a literal sand bridge at Nuweibaa that makes it quite shallow across the Gulf compared to the depth just to the north and south of that spot.

It is alarming that Google Maps has gone full Ron Wyatt. It has named or renamed locations around Jebel al-Lawz according to the Ron Wyatt myth. I don't know if this was at the direction of the Saudis who maybe want to make this a tourist destination. I used the map just last year and didn't notice all these 'historic' markers. One thing that may be of interest to you is there is an antique furniture shop there called the 'Split Rock'.

But what do we do with the text 1 Kings 9:26 says: “King Solomon also built a fleet of ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Elathfn on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.” The Hebrew for Red Sea there is “Yam Suph.”

Why would the Yam Suph be located, now, in the northern region of Gulf of Aqaba?

Arghhhh. Finally got around to watching it, was hesitant knowing you might prove me wrong. I was so fixed on it being a Red Sea crossing at Nuweiba and the wandering being in today's Saudi Arabia. Now I feel I need to start from scratch again.

Hi, Dr. Falk. You made a good case for the other places mentioned, but one thing still sticks in my craw. And that is the fact that Paul the apostle says that Sinai is/was in "Arabia". As an Egyptologist, can you tell me if "Arabia" has ever been considered part of the Sinai peninsula, especially in the north western end? Also, has Midian itself ever been definitively located? Thank you.

Very interesting video! Like others, I came here after watching your video with Cameron Bertuzzi. I also saw your review of IP's Exodus documentary, which I also found very enlightening. I was wondering what you, as a professional, say in general about the alleged findings of Ron Wyatt. Also I would be interested to hear your opinion on the "revised" Pharao chronology by D. Rohl, in which he identifies Ramesses II with King Shishak from 2 Chron 12.

This channel is an absolute treasure! Thank you so much dr. David for that marvelous content 😍

2 questions i know they seems not so simple to answer, but at least to provide the most likely answer:
1- the approx. Location for sea crossing
2- the pharoe of exodus

I am still exploring the channel, not sure if one of these was already answered.

Am here because I saw Dr Falk on Capturing Christianity. This channel is great because Dr Falk is high on evidence and low on conjecture, just the way it should be. Please keep it up!

I noticed, and caution against, requiring naturalistic causes for the spring and the smoke/fire. You rightly pointed out that one can't assume it has to be a volcano bc smoke and fire, but seemed to speak against the split rock as implicitly requiring a spring setup to have the water come from it.
Of course naturalists would require such things but supernatural things don't require naturalistic explanations.
Just some cautions.
It would be odd if Mt Sinai was not in the Sinai peninsula, though
I appreciate your detailed review of these things

You would think that these guys would not make such easily debunkable mistakes. I mean, I'm still in school, but I couldn't imagine trying to pass off "The End Sea" business without even checking HALOT. Great video, I really liked this one, full of good information. Hopefully we find the real Sinai one day, it would be amazing to visit.

Thank you Dr Faulk! Very convincing evidence on your half, well done. I am left though still questioning what you imagine the depth of the Yam Suph ? This is important, because how could shallow water drown a skilled Egyptian army ? Even though we know Pharaoh lived on, certainly some of his army were taken out. I think this is why many are attracted to the Nuweiba crossing thesis. Thanks !

Are shale deposits the only place where natural springs occur?

Soooo....what does Paul mean when he says Sinai is in Arabia? Does it come down to different boarders back then? Were there dwellings in the Sinai Peninsula for Paul says he went to Sinai before he went to Damascus?

"Virtual" (9:37 min.) - 1st definition, "being such in essence or effect though not formally recognized or admitted" - Meriam Webster. There is nothing in that definition that states it is "not real", it simply means not formally recognized as such, though in fact being such in essence. Please don't misrepresent what others have said or written. It's very unprofessional.

Area around split rock shows signs of flowing water.

I recall something about 12 pillars being erected at base of mountain which there are pictures.

The sand bridge slopes at a degree from nuweiba to Arabia that makes it pretty much would’ve made it like it was flat apparently . It wouldn’t have been like climbing a 2400 ft mountain and descending a 2400 ft mountain

was the library of Alexandria a big deal? I have read from new agey types that it was a great lose, some blame Christianity, some even say the lose put the world 1000 years behind. I have also heard that one of the Caesar reimbursed the library the first time it burned down; so if it was so game changing how can the Romans replace stuff so easily.
