The Manufacturer Couldn't Break This... #climbinggear #breaktest

These 316L 10 mm forged stainless steel rings are something we ordered a while back. They are SUPER strong, so strong the manufacturer couldn't break them. Climbing Taiwan sent us these two unpolished samples to make sure they are super strong enough before they finish making 2000 more. Forged rings eliminate the variables that welds introduce making QA difficult. The first one broke at 98.5 kN. We tried breaking the second sample 3 different times and each time the ring beat our soft shackles. Super good enough to rappel on at a 50 to 1 safety ratio.

imagine advertising your product as “tested to 22, 000lb, because that’s when our test bench started breaking”

I would really love to see a thermal camera replay of the breaks you guys do. You often say how hot things are and I think it would be fascinating to see the thermal imaging during a failure.

As an avid mountain climber who weighs 30, 000 pounds, these videos are a life saver.

There is something instinctively scary about looking at metal behave like bubblegum

The company that made these was like "Hey, you ever wanted to take an elephant mountain climbing?"

The ring cannot be destroyed by any craft that we here possess.

If its breaking at 80 to 90KN thats roughly to 7 to 8 tonnes (plus a bit). With a SF of 4 Id be happy to use these as 1.75t links.

i once heard metal described as incredibly hard clay or putty, and nowadays i just can't unsee it.

Man, that's some quality.
And how many test of crazy loads did those Dynema loops endure, like several hundred? Man, gotta get me some of those too

When you see what's possible when products are made with actual quality materials, you will be amazed

Jesus… that is genuinely impressive that this thing survived literally the worst case scenario in terms of trying to destroy it and it shrugged it off like it was nothing. If I ever need climbing gear. I know who to look for lol

When I worked in aerospace. We had a machine like this except it would test the bolts that held aeroplane ribs together. Wing ribs are in the form of aerofoils and impart required shape to the wing.

And man when they sheared. The whole building shook. You could feel it on the other of the site.

That’s awesome! These advancements in metallurgy will allow us to build tons of new things we never dreamed possible before!

They want climbers to know, "hey, if you fall, its not because our links broke! You are safe with these!"

This is a good promotional clip for them. Lol

Love the channel, whenever you snap a piece of metal and say “that’s hot” I always wonder how hot it really is.

I will donate a Fluke IR temperature reader if you would add a temperate reading after these shackles snap to the video!

This video literally proves ropes will let you down before this product will

Atleast they'll know this wasn't the thing that failed thats insane. Seen you do alot of these pulls and never seen you break equipment on the machine.

Now I don’t do rock climbing(fat and afraid of falling) but that is something I’d trust to hold me up
