Just spent the last 20 minutes exploring these harmonies. Love it!
With the b9 #11 chords feature an augmented chord in the right hand. The augment triad is one of my favorite sounds and I am so happy to find another use for it 😊

I always add that 9 to iii voicing a… never realized it was because life is short!

Love it. It fills my heart with groovy, jazzy love that you and Pete are so giving with all this great content. Such great ideas for such impactful study and top-drawer shedding. I just had to take the time to tell ya, well, because, life is short. 🎉😂❤😊

Man i dont normally like youtube piano tutorials because they dont get to the point but your format is just a dream. Its perfect. You have helped me so much, thank you. Its not unfamiliar concepts...it just helps to have it broken down. Keep killing it, friend!!

The “life is short” comment regarding iii-9 was a stress reliever. It’s fun to play and sounds so pretty, why shouldn’t I?

the E in the notation in the Db-9-#11 should be an E-flat

Wow! This is absolutely fantastic. I am so totally getting it now. The movement and sound of the tonal centers are the same, but the tritone substitution doesn't necessarily have to be placed in any particular place. Sure, you could analyze anything, but you can't second guess everything every time. Most of the time, when I am composing music, I'm not particularly thinking anything. Only that it sounds good. Besides that, in the final analysis of things, one artist harmonic analysis could completely differ from another's interpretation of it. On the contrary, the original artist probably wasn't thinking any of this at all.

I’m a music major in uni and I should be able to understand these faster but omg hear chord symbols just fly by

I'll see your tritone substitutions and raise you an augmented six.

I've been learning all of these harmonic warm-ups and have been transposing them based off of Roman numerals. These excersises have been very helpful since I had to stop taking lessons due to money. please keep these progressions coming!

Barry Harris has a thing to say about that F#

Your comment about the natural 9 on the iii is something that's always felt fuzzy to me -- how do you approach voicing a iii vs a ii? Could be a short video on its own?

Can someone explain to me real quick what the essence is of contrary motion. Guitar player here

You play flat E on the last sub but natural E is written, is it some kind of typo or a way to illustrate that both are fine?

Kind of weird being that systematic though not focusing enough on voice leading.

this is not a reason to use Fs on Em7.
