U.S. allies are bracing for President Trump at this week's NATO summit in Brussels. The president slammed the decades-old military alliance, saying the U.S. spends more on it than any other country and that it's unfair to taxpayers. Gabe Lipton, a CBSN contributor and Signal newsletter writer for GZERO Media, explains NATO's relevance in 2018.

The U.S. should only pay the agreed upon percentage - no less, no more. And that should be renegotiated and significantly reduced. To put this in perspective the U.S. funds NATO to the tune of $687 billion while the UK provides about $55 billion, France $46 billion and Germany only $45 billion. The other countries contributions are not even worth mentioning. In addition, the U.S. provides 50+ billion in aid to these other countries - which needs to stop. The U.S. has a failing infrastructure and its own citizens that need to be taken care of first and foremost.

His pamper is too tight. Nothing for him about tension with allies.

What costs so much money? I don't understand why Trump thinks that Germany should pay more.

NATO has missles, Macro, Merkel and May can all push the button. One Job. that's all they have to do, the One Job. and Save the World.
instead, we all sit in disdain with our collective eye roll.
