The Differences Between A Plan And A Strategy

Often times the words "plan" and "strategy" are used interchangeably in everyday conversations. But these words have different meanings.

Strategy:
- overarching method for reaching a goal
- dynamic in nature
- refers to a long-term effort
- evolves over time

Plan:
- static
- outlined steps designed to achieve a single objective
- most often short-term
- part of a longer-term strategy

PLAN = What / what your goal is (e.g., win the Super Bowl)
STRATEGY = How / exactly how you will do it (e.g., win enough games to get into the playoffs, etc.,
with all of the specific details involved)

The content was fine. The speaker is attractive (yes. That matters.) The plan to deliver the message was....so-so. Your P1 target market is American, right? The example was from a 3rdh-tier sport that has yet to match Basketball or Football.  While soccer may be her PERSONAL favorite, isn't it all about what works for the viewers? I would have used two speakers or used props like "two hats" or "two rooms" to separate "strategists" from "planners". Even the language and pace of the two discussions are different.  To illustrate  more clearly. My son is going through ROTC at a local university. His leaders know all about the difference between Strategic Goals, Mission Planning, Tactics, and Specific Skills. I have learned from the Asians. Business is War. This is why military/ examples work great..Anyone who has seen "Saving Private Ryan" "Band of Brothers" or "The Patriot" should be able to pull material from film clips. Also, context is key. Business leaders alsoI like real life examples from Strategic Consulting Successes. Like the story of Heinz 57. (You should know it) Again, American examples for Americans. Brits and Asians....we have different approaches for them.

Wrong.. She is either lying or incompetant because STRATEGY is the ART of DECEIVING your enemy, so your PLAN can work/be effective. that is the very reason the word exists or it's just a plan.
