Spider-Man the Animated Series is considered one of the best animated Marvel properties in history. Paving the way for stories we wouldn't see again for many years, Spider-Man the Animated series was integral in maintaining the popularity and expanding the legacy of our friendly neighborhood wall crawler. But what exactly makes this the perfect episode of Spider-Man the Animated Series?

"SHOCKER!!! YOU CAN'T ESCAPE ME!!! I'LL CHASE YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH!!!!" Spider-Man said, calmly.

What always gets me is when Peter says "We all have to grow up sometime Stan, even us characters of fiction" it perfectly shows us where Peter's head is at by series ends. He has grown in a way Marvel refuses to let his counterpart do

Spidey is probably the most relatable superhero. His powers didn't make his life better. He still struggles with relationships, making a living, and finding happiness all while being a hero. If he wasn't Spiderman he could focus on his life but his moral compass won't let him sit by while others suffer at the hands of villains he can stop. He was a great character from conception and still continues to be one to this day. Lee and Ditko's greatest work.

Without this show, I likely wouldn't be the Spider-Man fan I am now 😊

When Spiderman told Stan Lee that he finally learned to like himself and his life...that nearly brought a tear to my 9 year old self.

The voice acting in this show is insanely good and still holds up today even if some of the animation is reused a bit

One thing I love about this show and spiderman media in general is that not only does it show spidey talks all the time in fights, he's actually REALLY funny! one of my favorite lines is: Crook: "Spiderman!"
Spidey: "where? Where!? oh I just get so flustered when I meet a celebrity!"

Such a good show. Both Spider Wars and Secret Wars were awesome sagas, plentiful cameos from other Marvel series, it just had it all!

This show made me the Spider-Man fan I am today. It still feels like the most comic accurate depiction of these characters with only slight variations of their stories. I love it so much.

I think Madame Webb was a great driving force for the show. Her influence helped Spidey figure things out in ways he wouldn't have otherwise. It usually comes in the form of Webb giving Spidey her wisdom, Spidey brushes it off but then he figures it out later in the episode, and thus he grows from it. I love mentors like her who act as a powerful influence kept external from the problem.

Spiderman was my gateway to superheroes... this show was amazing! My fave run of episode are the Sins of the Father episodes... way more depth than most kids shows!

This is my favorite version of animated spider-man, where he's not just another child in highschool trying to get into touch with his powers and friends. Here he is internally both quirpy but like in the comics it's not him breaking the 4th wall constantly or making jokes- no normally HE himself is very serious~ and he mainly only makes jokes to piss people off to get under their skin.

This show was a huge part of my childhood and what made me a huge spiderman fan. Also introduced me to lots of marvel characters in a proto MCU type way. These final episodes just put a cap on the whole show. As a kid it never bothered me that the show ended when it did or how it did. I took it at face value that spidey finally gets MJ back and all will be well. Not until I was an adult did I learn it was cancelled. I've also loved the scarlet spider suit since and hope we see it and ben riley show up in some future spiderverse movie.

Love this episode and topic, and it comes on the birthday of Christopher Daniel Barnes - the voice of Spider-Man/ Peter Parker in this animated series!

I still remember watching that finale back in the mid 90’s. Even though it left us in a cliffhanger and so many plots were left unresolved (especially the real MJ being lost somewhere), Spider-Man: The Animated Series defined my fandom for all things about the wallcrawler and his world. John Semper Jr. and the rest of the show’s creators truly weaved together the best stuff born out of the character’s origins and legacy - and did that so well despite the many restrictions and changes made from the comics to deliver a fun and pretty awesome animated series - one that defined the 90’s alongside X-Men and BTAS. Mixing up the Clone Saga and Venom/ Carnage storylines and even giving us Secret Wars was a blast for Marvel fans like me - trimming away the convoluted stuff and delivering fun cartoon goodness all around. And yeah, this was the first time we officially had “Spider-Verse” way before it became the way it is in comics today, and before Into The Spider-Verse came around and gave us an awesome animated film - seeing the different variants team up together with Madame Web was every Spidey fan’s dream come true.🕷️⭐️

Nothing beats the 90s Spider-Man for me. Never will.

I really hope the Across the Spider-Verse films provide actual closure to this show.

Absolutely the best arc, but also a disappointing ending. Why? Because we never got to see what Madam Web promised; it ended before he was reunited with MJ. If I recall right, that was the implication at the end, and even the reward outright promised for his cooperation. But it's so frustrating we never see it!

I always referred to Armord Spidey as "Iron-Spiderman" Because of how much likeness he seemed to have to Ironman. That was until Shattered Dimensions came out (Which I think is an amazing game, and Im a proud owner of it, wish it were backwards compatible on xbox one), when it you play through the game, you unlock alternate costumes for the different spidermen, and one of spiderman 2099 costumes is the Iron Spiderman. So now I call it Alt Spiderman 2099.
