I watched that "Please don't buy" video and definitely found a lot of the claims to be outlandish and speculative at best. Just about everything you buy indirectly contributes in some way to someone's suffering somewhere. I'm not going to villainize or be paranoid of every Russian person for the actions of their government. The game looks like it has a lot of work and creativity put into it and I will let it speak for itself.

As soon as I heard the "if you're planning on playing Hogwarts Legacy" bit, I knew where he was going with his whole thing. Atomic Heart looks good, and that's all that should matter. Honestly, this same logic could be applied to the Wolfenstein games, so therefore it's an asinine position to hold.
Same goes for Hogwarts Legacy as well, the ONLY reason there's even any negative buzz about it is because of associations with the author...to the point that streamers who have played it early through the deluxe edition release have been being harassed...for playing the game. Nothing else.
Buy Atomic Heart if it's good. Buy Hogwarts Legacy if it's good. Support devs who make good games, and mock those who tell you to not buy games for stupid political BS.

The entire reason for the "Don't buy atomic heart" video was literally the guy just doesn't like Russia, so he decided that the best way to express that hatred is to target Russians for the sake of being Russian, which hilariously is just straight up xenophobic and discriminatory.

I've been waiting for atomic heart since it was first announced. It's absolutely insane to boicot a game and the developers just because their country happens to be involved in a war, when they have nothing to do with it. We could use the same argument against games made in the US if we take into account all the atrocities commited by its government

I watched Harenko's vid last night when it only had like 15k views and can assure you that even then he was deleting any comment calling him out for effectively telling you to help cancel the game because of the developers' nationality. Looks like the vid got algorithm'd so he just gave up and capped the comment limit while blaming Russian bot accounts lmao. Ironic how he does all this while trying to paint the game as manipulative propaganda.

Regarding the connection between Gazprom and Atomic Hart as far as I know it is not true. It's just that a man who once worked in a high position at Gazprom quit his job and used his capital to start an organization that finances video game development around the world. The name of this organization is GEM Capital and the man's name is Anatoly Paliy. His fund as far as I know is not only financing Atomic Hart, but also many other games and of course not only GEM Capital puts its money into the project, but also many other campaigns. For example Gaijin Entertainment.
Regarding the propaganda of all things Soviet - a game in the alternative history genre and the Soviet Union shown in it has a relation to reality the same as Rapture from BioShock. That is, no direct relationship.

The author of the video "don't buy atomic heart" is an ukrainian dude who hate this game because it's russian. In fact, nobody cares about russian origin of the game except ukrainians. Game cancelling won't lead to anything good.
