This video highlights symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic pseudocyst. This is a common sequela of acute pancreatitis. It may or may not cause symptoms and sometimes goes unnoticed for a long time. It is important to understand the principles of its treatment and how it differentiates from an associated but different condition called walled-off pancreatic necrosis.

I wish there was more medical professionals with your enthusiasm and duty of care to share complicated medical analysis into lay mans terms. You should be commended, not only that others could learn so much from you as a gentleman and scholar.

My wife is going through necrotic pancreatitis with FIVE Pseudo Cycts….she keeps getting worse after four weeks in the hospital. More swelling, 2 cysts is now 5, they won’t drain them because they haven’t matured.

She is told her pancreas is eating itself and has scarring, and to rest and wait for swelling to go down.

I don’t know what to do..

My dad who suffered from chronic pancreatitis, had his Duodenum completely obstructed by pseudocyst.

The hospital did not care, they refused to drain, even though he had an bmi of 12 and was vomiting many times every day.

They gave him a machine to take with him home, so he himself could put a tube down his nose into his stomach and the machine would drain the stomach.

He had to do this draining Procedure very frequently to avoid extreme pain and vomiting on a daily basis.

He was fed and given water intravenously.

He is dead now, 62 years old.. died a month ago found dead on the floor with black vomit everywhere.

I just never understood why they didn't want to treat the pseudocysts..

One time they told us;
"the surgeon who could perform the procedure isn't here anymore"

The next time they tell us
"The pseudocyst is located in a place where we can't reach, therefore we can't drain it"

But they acted like open surgery didn't exist, like it was impossible to give passage in his duodenum.

Each time my dad was hospitalized, it was very apparent that they just wanted him out of the hospital as quickly as possible, and he should just go home and die.
