Probably the most pleasantly surprising opening to a Psychology Seattle video.

I thought exactly the same seeing the cooking scenes edited in for the first time…it felt like a big “look we’re humane and not exploitative!”

Your compassionate, socially informed, evidence based discussion of self-esteem felt like a hug. It's validating in more ways than a comment section can contain.

When Johnie said she grew up in a “fairly normal” family, then said her mother told her that maybe she isn’t meant to be in a relationship…. Like, girl, that ain’t a normal family situation. Bless her heart. I hope she gets some therapy to get some perspective on that situation.

Love Is Blind is framed as a way of dating that’s different from “the real world”, but it’s pretty similar to the experiences of some long-distance couples that meet online. I had a friend who dated someone from another country and had so many conversations over the internet before finally meeting. She felt like she knew everything about him, so she agreed to marry him. When she went to his country for the wedding, she started to realize that she had been deceived. They got married but she left and filed for divorce very soon afterward. The cast members of 90-day fiancé can also probably relate to the Love Is Blind concept; you have one type of relationship while communicating across barriers, but when you meet it’s different, and you have to decide quickly whether you want to go through with the marriage. It’s not surprising that the show resonates with people now, since so many people meet their partners online.

The thing about different producers during different seasons made so much sense to me. While watching season 5, I thought that it feels a lot like season 1, so the same producers make a lot of fan.

Beautiful intro. 🎶 Requesting it at the beginning of every Love Is Blind breakdown as a theme song 😂😉

You might like UnREAL— TV drama following a producer of a reality dating show as she struggles with her mental health and the guilt from manipulating contestants/cast. She also falls in love with one of the cast members— which is why I thought of the show when you mentioned that someone should make a romcom based on love is blind. Thanks for the video!

Omg, how heartbreaking that her mother told her "you are not relationship material" basically... I was single for a time and had just short failed flings, I just imagined if my mom would have told me that, that would have hurt like hell! Sociaty tells women enough that they are somewhat broken and that's why a man "doesn't want them", no need for that from close family...

Interesting information that different seasons were filmed with different crews. I've been wondering why more contestants haven't stepped forward regarding the abusive treatment. There are probably many reasons, but maybe the conditions in each season were handled differently. Thanks Dr. Kirk for sharing the details and thanks anaonymous crew member!

The lounge scenes reminded me of LIB Japan where they showed a lot of the cast hanging out and talking to each other in the living areas

Who’s gonna tell Dr Kirk about the MTV Newlyweds reality show juggernaut that is Nick Lachey’s real claim to fame?!
