Russia is now the most sanctioned country in the world.

While the West has imposed economic sanctions on Russia the reaction of Asian countries has not been as unified as those of Europe and North America.

The BBC’s Asia Business correspondent, Mariko Oi, looks at how countries across Asia have reacted to the sanctions.

Let us be reasonable. India used to import from Venezuela US sanctioned Venezuela. India started importing from Iran US sanctioned Iran. India then move to Russia US sanctioned Russia. So, where do they expect India to import oil. Is there any alternative for India.

First ask Germany to stop buying oil, coal and gas from Russia.. If they care less about Ukraine's safety why would others even think about it?

The point is actually a deeper cultural issue. I hate to say this - in the same way Europeans care relatively little about affairs in Asia, the Asians in turn care little about Europe. For example how many European nations are taking up huge sanctions against say Myanmar who is actively engaged in Ethnic cleansing. Their neighbours are concerned because they face the refugee crisis. How seriously did Europeans take the Syrian war? Likewise, how serious do Syrians or say Lebanese take the European war? One can be cynical, or just face the fact, when you see Ukrainians in anguish, you can literally see the faces of your own relatives (if you are European). True compassion is when you can look across that cultural/ethnic link and take serious the issues of say, Northern Ethiopians (Tigray) who are in a war of their own.

Please don't drag Asia into this. We've got problems of our own. Thanks :)

Bigger question is : Is EU supporting Russia in the war by purchasing almost 50 times more oil than India & Other countries?

The media should stop trying to turn this into a worldwide entanglement.

The typical western attitude of ‘with us or against us’. Indo-pak region is still dealing with aftermath of colonialism.

Most smaller nations have been lobbied or threatened by US to condemn Russia

As an Australian I object to Sanctions by the US if Israel and the US are immune to Sanctions for their own crimes.

The world including Latin America, Africa, the Middle east and Asia have now seen how brutal western hegemony can be. If Russia falls, no one will safe. It is time for an alternative financial system. Say NO to financial bullying.
