Another Ford Gasoline EGR Cooler | 2.7L EcoBoost V6 Emission Systems

It's the world we now live in. Ford's new EcoBoost engines come strapped with an itty-bitty EGR Cooler. We take a look at a 2020 2.7L EcoBoost Powered F-150 and the current state of gasoline emissions systems.

My EGR pipe to the cooler to the engine block broke and melted my intake tube to my driver side turbo at 53, 000 miles, but I love it

My 2018 F150 STX 2.7 liter V6 “check engine” light came on at 71, 000 miles. According to my mechanic it was this EGR that needed fixing. Cost $1, 241.13 to fix. Using five new parts.

I would think the EGR cooler is needed to bring the temps down prior to entering the combustion chamber for preignition purposes. These are fairly high compression engines running forced induction and can still run regular fuel. They need to do everything they can to eliminate chances of pre-ignition. The 2020 2.7 is port and direct injected btw

Poorly engineered EGR to cooling pipe fitting, it broke and melted turbo intake. Very difficult expensive repair.

My 2021 f150 2.7 just blew the ERG cooler and sprayed metal into the engine, the result was the engine needed to be replaced. Only good news was the engine was still under warranty as this would have cost me $20k to replace with a new engine..

I will have to investigate this, wondering how or what the EGR would be on the 17-18 Ford Fusion Sport (2.7). What can be done to improve or make the engine run better.

So does that mean that the 5.0l v8 and the 5.2l v8 will have the same crap egr cool to?

Yeah I’m replacing this cooler and cooler pipe to the manifold now at 60K

There is more problems with ERG's sysytem for people that don't drive there trucks then people that actually really drive there trucks.
