►She was an inspiration to millions - with a smile, a rebellious laugh and sometimes even a dance... she faced one of life's toughest challenges. Dame Deborah James passed away last night.
After her bowel cancer diagnosis in 2016, the former teacher became a household name - raising awareness for the disease with her 'bowel babe' blog and raising millions for cancer research.
Her family says Dame Deborah broke down barriers, challenged taboos and changed the conversation around the disease.

I'm in Australia. Beautiful Deborah touched so many globally, she will be greatly missed and never be forgotten. Her incredible Legacy will live on.
I thank Deborah for saving my life. I was dissed as 'it's your IBS' by gastro docs over and over for several years, while my symptoms got worse. I refused to take a no and kept pushing. Finally was scopes... and there it was in my ascending bowel. Thankfully early Stage and removed. I followed Deb on Insta for 4 years, had interactions on dms with her, and I truly believe it's because of her that I was aware that my symptoms weren't normal, and to keep pushing. I will be forever greatful. God Bless you Angel. 🙏

She squeezed every drop of joy out of life, and was so much more than the disease that took her. May she rest in peace.

It’s so bizarre why some people turn up with a random cancer. All I can do is ask why.
