Sonic Rush 2022 Animation 'Trust' + Breakdown

My last Sonictober submission under ASO :)

For the prompt of trust, I chose to sorta reanimate the ending to Sonic Rush
an ending that I feel had a very bittersweet feeling to it and exemplified the word in more ways than one

i love this so much. watching this in-game you could feel the energy of that surprise when sonic reaches out with a second hand and you know they both don't want to say goodbye yet, but this animation makes it SO much more tangible. the exchange of smiles and laughter between them really adds such a sweet touch to their goodbye, ending on a positive note despite being forced apart. you did an amazing job! 💜

Y'know, I think this is the first time I see Super Sonic laugh.
Usually he's so serious, or angry, or passional when in his Super form. But it's nice to see him relax and laugh while staying on his golden super powerful form lol

The animation combined with the song has me reliving memories of moving away and having to say goodbye to some life long friends. Having fun together one last time before we part ways, not knowing if we'll ever meet again.

This hit me in so many feels! 😭 Sonic Rush was my first exposure to Sonic, and this entire scene was so bittersweet, and you captured it so perfectly!!! And the music to boot, AHHHH!!!!

Still love this. Which watching it in-game you could feel the energy of the surprise when Sonic reaches out with his other hand and grabbed Blaze’s hand (who was reaching out with her hand to Sonic beforehand) and you know that they both didn’t want to say goodbye to each other and tried to reach towards each other after couldn’t hold on any longer, but this animation makes it tangible. The exchange of between smiles and laughs between them did really add such a sweet touch to their goodbyes to each other, and ending it on a positive note while they still said tried to reach towards each other after let go of holding each other, despite them being forced apart from each other. You did an fantastic job.

it's been so many years since i've played this game, and experienced this scene, but this magnificent, wistful animation brings back some magnificent, wistful feelings. it reminds me of why sonic rush holds the place it does in my heart, fantastic job!

I saw this on twitter and absolutely loved it. So nostalgic and this makes it even better. Having actual visuals and even animated faces than what the game provides for it’s time, this is how we’d imagine it in our heads when played through this game at that time and age. Amazing work! ❤️

Before it stopped reading, I had a used copy of this for my Princess Peach-themed DS. I would play this non-stop, trying to clear each stage with flying colors. I loved everything; the pacing, the design, the music. Never got enough of it. Would play again.
