I wanted to compare the Marshall Emberton II against the JBL Flip 6. I actually think the JBL has better bass this round and a smoother sound. The emberton, while exceptionally nice - has a litte more of a... how can I say... robotic sound to it. Still, you can't beat the 30 hour battery life of the Marshall Emberton II. Is it worth waiting for the 2 to come back in stock over the JBL 6? I'd say maybe for the looks and outdoor potential it is, but sound wise I think you'd be very happy with the Flip 6.

I have both and listen to them. Marshall is notches above the flip 6 for the overall sound quality, clarity and soud stage. The styling and substance - it has a lot of heft and substance. Anything hip hop and bass heavy songs - jbl kicks ass. Marshall has good bass and is quite tight. But that thump is the only place jbl wins. Otherwise it's all the way Marshall in every other aspect

I have the Emberton. It grew on me so much! I stopped using my homepod mini at all. The battery is phenomenal and something really punchy and unique about it. Thanks for this video though.

Exchanged my Emberton to Flip 6. Both original (at least purchased from official resellers). Didn’t like how Emberton performed bass (kinda overwhelming), its performance with higher volume is just meh. Maybe it’s for outdoors mostly… Flip 6 sound is so much clearer in my opinion. Also better with high volumes and bass

I own both. The JBL definitely has the bass (as with most JBL products), but can sound kind of muffled because of it. The Marshall has a more balanced "clarity" thing going for it, and can bang out the bass pretty well. So both are solid choices.

For me, if I had to choose one I'd actually roll with the Marshall. Battery life is much better, but also because it's box-shaped it doesn't roll around like the JBL if it or the table it might be sitting on is bumped.

It's nice that you included the original sound track for comparision. Not many channels on youtube do this!

Wow, to my ear the flip 6 sounds overall superior.. The emberton has a weird mid boost, with kinda muffled highs - at least from this sample.. The Flip is overall present, with good highs and mids. At least, thats what Iam hearing!

That Harman curve is apparent in the JBL and it really shows even more when doing side-by-side with others. It's like that east coast vs. west coast or even vs. UK sound. Strange to hear it in mono in such a tiny speaker.

I have both... and both of them are good speakers imo, for bass it will be flip6 definitely...but for overall balance and sound signature...I'll choose emberton, I'm not so sure why because flip6 have a very good sound output too, but Im enjoying more listening to emberton...maybe because of the Marshall sound sig...which is more pleasing to my ears.

One thing most of the portable speakers reviewers always skip is stereo pairing of two speakers. Hey, some of us still like stereo sound that's truly separated. You really can't have stereo sound unless you separate the left and right channel be physical distance. Having a single stereo speaker is NOT stereo.

So I have both of these speakers. The JBL Flip 6 can do a stereo pair with a second JBL Flip 6. A Flip 6 cannot be stereo paired with any different JBL. So when pairing a JBL Flip 6 and JBL Flip5 the sound is monaural and the same from both speakers. Also, adding more than two Flip 6s in party mode will only be monaural sound from all paired speakers.

Bose Soundlinks can do stereo pairing. So can the Sonos Roam when using Airplay 2. I have those as well.

Stacking two Emberton II speakers cannot produce stereo sound. It seems Marshall did not add that capability for some reason.

Stacking two Emberton II speakers just has the same sound coming from both speakers. Stacking additional Emberton II speakers just repeats the same monaural sound from each additional speaker.

I bought the Emberton II because I thought they could be stereo paired so I was disappointed to find out that they can't be. I'm not sure if stereo pairing cannot be added with an app upgrade or there is a hardware change required. I'm puzzled as to why Marshal did not provide that capability.

As far as the sound quality goes, I have to agree, the JBL flip 6 sounds better than the Emberton ii because it provides better low frequency response. The JBL has two speakers inside while the Emberton II only has one.

Sorry for being verbose...

I have the Emberton II and Willen speaker. I was able to stack them through the Marshall app and play them together

I swear there's something wrong with your Emberton 2. The bass sounds so weak compared to other sound tests I have heard. Maybe they have the bass boosted or something? I listened to "Aaron is Loud and Wireless" and "CeonTheMaking." The latter compares directly to the Flip 6 as well.

Marshall is much more crisp and precise. I want all around quality of sound, not just bass 🎸 🎹
