As a new player, my theory is that the average sane human would not choose the purple spandex as battle attire. Therefore, the unlikeability and ugliness of vs makes them a bastion for veteran players

Emerald VS main here (VKTZ :)), we love taking the game seriously DURING ALERTS. It just so happens that our outfit logs in during prime time when there’s usually at least one alert. Reading some other comments on this video, I see the term zerging referred to or complained about. We’re lucky to have so many active outfits and people leading platoons. Since these platoons are fun to play with, they fill up completely and fast. This often leads to squads within the platoon going to different bases because we don’t need all the pop. However, our command channel isn’t always productive so sometimes our leaders have it turned off and we end up dropping at a base that another platoon was planning on dropping it. This usually leads to overpop and we try out best to pull off and find a different fight.

As far as nanites go, we personally don’t pull air or vehicles and focus on infantry pointholds to win the alert (except for valkeries to get somewhere fast). This style of play isn’t for everyone since it’s like setting up a fort inside the point room/building. This only works if the NC or TR is not set up on the point or has a forward hold (spawn camp) and we sneak in behind them. We aren’t necessarily the most skilled but we are very organized all the way from types of classes to how many of each there are (ops loadouts). We too get crushed by organized platoons who take advantage of every aspect of the game (infantry, armor, air). I see it so frequently, our outfit gets set up on the point and friendlies bring in and deploy sundies only for the TR or NC to come in and destroy any and all vehicles/air, essentially surrounding us before they organize and all storm in to wipe us. When they are not organized and trickle in, we’ll beat them every time, armor or infantry. I wish they would bring back the other types of alerts besides just territory control. The crazy air anomalies or holding the most tech plants or bio labs was so refreshing because it was different. Our infantry may be slightly more skilled but I’d like to think it’s because we all hate playing in air or armor and tend to prefer infantry.

From a very subjective feeling point of view i want to say two things:
VS infantry guns feels like a lower skill treshold, higher skill ceiling because of the high accuracy. A salty NC heavy with a 50% headshot rate can engage and win against a whole squad in varying distances with one SAW mag and some trigger discipline, but doing so with the orion is just easier.
Seocondly, fighting VS is often annoying because a few good players can and will pull vehicles, kill the spawns and end the fight if it is not strategically beneficial to their faction for that fight to exist. NC and TR players are much more content grinding away TI alloys deteriorating foundations, and mostly use vehicles and air to farm infantry rather than end fights.

Of the three factions, Vanu has the best medics I've ever seen. Terrans come at a close second, but I notice a lot of them attempt the revives- but without eliminating nearby threats first. NC doesn't give two shits about the role of medic, for the most part. Just some small things I noticed about Emerald, anyways.

NC main here. The lasher might not be the weapon with the fastest TTK but it has a realy good area of denial effect. when a group of VS players are using it tends to be near imposible to get through if they are set up in underground tunnels such as in the center base in Hossin. There are days i'll just only fight TR when i don't feel like dealing with it.

Also, The maneuverability of magriders is insane, the amount of times I've seen mags spawn camp while hiding in hills is beyond count. And yes, TR and NC do avoid VS during alarms, I've seen it happen several times, I hate VS, so I always try to stop them and I'm always outnumbered; they zerg bases sometimes 70+% or ghost cap them, It seems no one wants to fight the no fun allowed faction.

the lasher is the most overpowereed team work weapon in the game.

the key is getting ppl to shoot the floor next to the doorways / cover

Vanu doesn't have bullet drop, climbing tanks, its a try hard magnet also vanguards are not weak also the camo on vanu is hard to see. Also there targeted cause they tend to get involved in fights not even connected to there base and just get in the way

Magrider can escape easier than any mbt, much harder to kill. Easiest to drive

Noticed that Vanu use the taunt more when they kill you than any other faction.

Camo difference is only a thing when you play on high quality. In low quality it is easy to spot almost everyone from a long range.

Why does everyone ignore the fact that the VS weapons on a whole are more accurate and have higher velocity? The fact the shots go where they are aimed rather than drop at range is a huge advantage. If I can train myself to keep the reticle on heads and fire just as soon as I get my sight picture, I have an advantage vs. having to mentally calculate where my rounds are going to end up and account for that drop and then fire. Those tiny little reactions, no matter how small do add up, and in this game, he who lands his bullets first is more than likely going to win. Velocity is also important because if I can land more shots before the target has time to react the better. The magrider, while tricky at first to drive, once you get used to it can absolutely make it to places all the other tanks cannot and that is also a huge advantage. The scythe is a super stable air platform. It’s like a freaking sky turret! A bit slow, but you can essentially park the thing in the sky, whereas the mosquito or reaver will start to drift or fall out of the sky more quickly if you stop moving and you have to feather the space bar a lot more often, again, a tiny little thing, but it all adds up. The VS faction has all kind of very small advantages (like the dark default camo) that no one dare add up or be accused as being a salt-lord… As a non-gamer who happened to start playing PS2 back when it came out because my friend wouldn’t leave me alone about it, I have no problem saying things like they are and couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks. But I think there’s some crazy weird psychology amongst gamers when it comes to talking about balance that if you mention it, you must be weak rather than just being pragmatic. I’m 45, so maybe it’s maturity? I will also say that once you reach peak skill in this game, it becomes harder to see balance issues. For example, if you took Zealous and a brand new player and you swapped their entire gaming rigs, the new guy would suffer far more than Zealous would. Think about that for a minute.

How on earth that mine at 5:37 didn't trigger on you? Does the exceptional implant also counters mines?

I actually wouldn't completely discount the 'hard to see' theory. During some of those longer sieges that can last for hours there's sometimes a very noticable pattern where we (TR) would get pushed back by the Vanu during the night, only for the the sun to rise and the momentum of the battle reversing in a periodic cycle following the time of day.
It's not a super huge effect, but it's there.

Interestingly this is probably also something that affects new players a lot more than pros. Experienced players will probably have adjusted their brightness and gamma settings to make nights easier to deal with, have better monitors with higher dynamic range, use camo making them better or worse to see than the baseline, and just be more experienced in general spotting people at night. However, for noobies it can definitely a factor.

watching that revenge roadkill with the scythe on the max that killed you was so satisfying at around 9:25

Actually I blame TR for ACTIVELY AVOIDING THE VS

Veteran VS player here, i focus mostly on strategic play over pure vehicles or infantry play, things like leadership and logistics, focusing on alerts and territory is more important than clicking heads, mainly since i don't find our infantry arsenal that interesting and I've grinded the guns i do like, our MBT is in a weird place, some people like the maggie, i don't, i mained the Lightning for years and have gone a bit tired of it, it's also a bit difficult to play armor on VS at least on Miller since we don't have a big armor presence in general, VS is far more likely to pull support and light vehicles over tanks while as NC and TR will have a greater armor stance, so basically i find more fun in actually being a pure support player than anything else today, these are basically some of my reasons for playing the way i do as VS and there is likely some cross familiarity that other VS players will relate to. So if you want to run and gun and play like BF play TR or NC which are by far the easiest factions to play overall since you will have greater familiarity from other shooters while VS is the odd one for the niche player, we compensate our weaker competitiveness in direct engagements with greater strategic and tactical gameplay and i think this is something we just naturally gravitate towards if you play long enough.

The thing about lasher is, that it's all about crowd control. It does have low DPS, but it also has splash damage. That serves two purposes. First, you can shoot opponents without a direct line of fire, so a good thing to get them out of cover. The second is, of course being able to damage multiple opponents with one shot. Finally, there is an intimidation factor. Orbs of plasma look scary. The main problem with lasher is that in a fair one-on-one fight, lasher would lose pretty much all the time. But then again, if you find yourself in a fair fight, your strategy sucks.
Magerider can strafe and whenever I drive one of these things, I feel like I have to. A good thing about it is that you always face your opponent with the strongest side It's also easier to get behind your opponent where their armor is weaker. So that's what's magrided has going for it. Also being able to get to places.
Another thing about VS is heat mechanics. Mostly on directive weapons, but also Phaseshift and Obelisk. I know this is subjective, but I'm a compulsive reloader. I reload machineguns after 10 shots, I even reload after one shot, if I feel I have time (sometimes that feeling is wrong), so having heat mechanics, partially solves that problem, since after having a couple of shots, the weapons usually cool down before finding a place to reload. Also with Parsec, I don't have to reload at all, unless I'm in an extremely target-rich environment (I usually am not) or I spray and play (again, I usually don't).
Also a small, but, I think, Important thing is the newest Spiker. Now when charged it does splash damage and can even damage vehicles. Fully charged it can kill Max with two headshots. I don't use spiker lately, because I've auraxiumed it, and now it's Cerberus's turn.
