Waggoner Ranch: Iconic Chunk of Texas for Sale at $725 Million

Показать описание
The Waggoner Ranch in north Texas is slightly smaller than Rhode Island and is the largest ranch in the U.S. within a single fence. Everything about it is Texas-scale: the colorful history, the sprawl, the oil that lies beneath it, and the feud among the heirs that is forcing a court-ordered sale. This old-fashioned working ranch comes with 6,800 cattle, 500 quarter horses, more than 1,000 producing oil wells, nearly 30,000 acres of farmland and more than 150 years of history. The price tag: $725 Million. (Video by: Jeniece Pettitt, Ryo Ikegami) (Source: Bloomberg)

I live in north Tx, and went to school with guys who worked on the Waggoner Ranch, I hate to see it sell because it is an iconic part of TX, I cant imagine someone who can pay that much money for a ranch that would have respect for the life style and what ranches like the Waggoner meant for the development of America.

I like how she says "I think it's worth so much more than that. The history, the horses, ect". Mentions everything but the OIL.

$725 million dollars for 207.000 hectares of total land seems quite cheap. Thats 2/3 of the total area of Rhode Island.

i think 725million is too low for what the ranch includes.

Such a shame when family argues over land. My great grandfather left land to his kids and to this day the grandkids (my aunts and uncles and their cousins) are arguing over what to do with the land. It has caused a rift in the family that shouldn't have been.
This ranch has so much history and I can't see it staying a ranch unless a conservancy buys it and tries to maintain some of the old west.

I totally agree with the young lady about the history that you cannot buy. It will Break her heart when it Sales. I personally hope it's another ranching outfit that will appreciate the land, cattle and history, and use it accordingly!!

Im extremly surprised that the ranch has not been designated as a registered historic landmark.

If I had the money I would definitely but it and let the respectful family members visit it just to retain its history

My understanding is they laid off alot of Cowboys and they all had to move off ranch most to Seymour
So sad the end of a cattle ranch.

You should be putting this up for about 100 billion

What a shame, that family members are willing to give up such a legacy.

I pray it was sold to someone that keep it going as it is and to developers that will destroy it.
