On our latest episode of Stick to Football, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Irish golfer Rory McIlroy.

There’s only one subject to start on: Roy Keane snubbing a young Rory McIlroy asking for an autograph whilst the former footballer was on international duty.

The Northern Irish golfer gives a full lowdown on LIV Golf and his stance on the breakaway league as well as his views on the latest big-name to join the organisation in Jon Rahm.

Rory also chats about supporting his boyhood team Manchester United and the prospect of buying shares into the club as well as his relationship with Tiger Woods and the formation of their TGL – a venture formed by the pair which is due to launch in 2025.

Our panel also discuss Rory’s incredible 2023 Ryder Cup and high pressure moments in sport, as well as the prospect of completing a major should he win the elusive Masters at Augusta.

We ask your Community Questions, with Rory revealing who his best friend in the sport is, which former professional footballer he reckons would be the best golfer and who was his footballing hero.

Finally, Rory, Ian, Jamie, Roy and Gary relive Rory’s 9-year-old appearance on the Gerry Kelly Show by taking on a golf chipping into the washing machine challenge.

Will one of the best golfers on the planet show them how it’s done or will one of our former professional footballers cause a shock?

If you liked the episode don't forget to let us know in the comments and if you want to listen only you can catch Stick to Football on all major podcast platforms.

I am so glad Gary convinced Roy to do a podcast and people get to see what he is like as a teammate and a friend and not just his brutal media personality.

Hilarious, humble and loyal - a leader on and off the pitch.

Ian Wright is honestly the best mate anyone could have, love the way he’s not afraid to tell his mates they’ve done well or he’s proud of them. Legendary bloke genuinely.

Ian Wright, absolute legend. I'm a UTD fan but the guy is just good vibes! Great show as always!

I've never seen Roy as happy as when he's around Ian, that's a great pairing.

Wrighty was on cracking form this episode. Loved the story about Roy snubbing Rory for an autograph & Roy is constantly trying to steer the conversation away, and Wrighty is just leaning in and going “so tell us what happened next Rory”??? 😂😂😂

To hear Rory say he regrets the way he judged the first LIV golfers says a lot about him. Humble guy and one of the best golfers there's ever been. It's changed my recent image of him. Loved this one guys. 👌

Really like that they ask the more intrusive questions here, such as the numbers on Saudi contracts. No other show does that. Brilliant

This is such a great format. Gary's a great interviewer and there's a level of trust and mutual respect between sportsmen that you just don't get between journalists and sportsmen.

I asked Roy for a picture when he was in Portugal as Sunderland manager and he said “ No cos if you have one every fucker will want one” 🤣 I said fair enough and shook his hand and that was it 😂

Could have listened to another 2 hours of that conversation! Well done all! Was at the Ryder cup this year and the 18hole was pure drama!

I'm a Liverpool fan and met Roy Keane when I was 12 at an airport in Cork over 20 years ago, Roy was with his father and brother and couldn't have been nicer, bought a round of drinks for the father and uncle and took some photos with us and signed some autographs.

this was possibly the single most, best, individual insight I've seen on this podcast regarding something that wasn't football. Loved every moment of it

Rory is a legend. Speaks so well and just has brilliant etiquette. LIV was a big disruption to the sport, but thats off to them for standing up and trying to protect his own. Great episode this...
