We recently met Weam, 12, on a medical mission to Jordan, alongside SAMS Goodwill Ambassador Amber Heard. We learned that Weam suffers from a life-threatening condition called Thalassemia, and she hasn't received the care that she needs in months due to budget cuts.

Weam looks like she's a very bright and passionate little girl. I so hope that she's doing well and on her way to achieving her dream of becoming a hematologist.

Much respect to Amber for volunteering for this and for showing young girls like Weam that they can overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams. This is one of many reasons why I love and stand with Amber. Not many celebrities of her stature choose to do such grassroots humanitarian work as she does.

Lastly, thank you SAMS for all the good work that you're doing.
