LISBON SURF CITY | VON FROTH

When it comes to mixing great waves and a thrilling urban scene, there’s no place like Lisbon, Portugal. Where else can one enjoy the pleasures of riding perfect peaks in the morning, under the shadow of Sintra’s ancient castles and palaces, just before experiencing all the attractions of a thriving and culturally rich European capital, in the afternoon? This unique mix between town and country, city and beach, is partly the reason why, more than 30 years ago, Nic Von Rupp’s dad decided to settle down after a lifetime of globetrotting. Just went back yesterday from a surf trip from Biarritz France (hometown) to Lisbon /ericeira / Peniche/ nazare and I tell you Portugal is amazing for surfing, good atmosphere in the water, amazing waves and landscapes. Been surfing Ribeira d'ihlas, coxos (cave), praia do sul, supertubos, baleal, middle bay, cancelaçao.. Beach breaks to point and reef breaks, so many choices !!!! So cool to see your video today making me sad to get back home 😂

Love Portugal. Been there 3 times, each time for a few weeks (mostly Ericeira). I come from South Africa and its just as beautiful but it's hardcore 3rd world with all the crime, corruption, chaos, no future. I love nature too and the Alps blows me away, lived in Switzerland, Austria. Austria, Switzerland just have too many rules, people are highly stressed, far too serious, so much that you are not allowed to do. Portugal is beautiful, great waves and the people are chilled, relaxed. Smack in the middle of hardcore 3rd world to overbearing northern Europe first world. I really think I am going to end up in Portugal. Love this clip, I just want to pack my bags and head straight to Ericeira/Lisbon. Nic, you making me jealous but I am looking forward to the next clips.

O teu pai tem muita razão. Já fomos o centro do mundo. A primeira potência Global.
Quanto ao surf, essas praias desse lado (tirando Carcavelos, quando está sul) e muito vento, demais. Aqui na Costa estamos bem, temos 20 kms de praia, muita onda para todos, todas as idades e gênero, ninguém te chateia.
Eu moro mesmo em frente a praia nova, e desde os meus 12 anitos que apanho ondas aí, sempre que possível. Tenho 54, mas sempre na onda, e como uma religião. Mesmo.
Mas Força meu, tens um canal fixe, uma família melhor e uma vida que gostas, o que e o mais importante de tudo.
PS: Eu felizmente já tive oportunidade de viajar e conhecer "meio mundo", muita gente boa, lugares fantásticos, e ondas Sublimes, mas uma coisa e verdade( pelo menos para mim) Lisboa e das cidades mais bonitas do mundo, especialmente num dia de sol, e estares ou no castelo de Almada ou no Cristo Rei, e simplesmente a verdadeira Cidade Luz.

It is a beautiful city and country I camped at peniche for 3 months from Christmas to end of February surfing everyday meeting loads of friends went to Lisbon I love the place and really want to go bk soon, and that beach break you were surfing at the start looked so much fun 🤤🤤🤤
