As a former enlisted Marine, this general should have been on top of all of his troops.
The excuse that he inherited a bad staff is null and void. As a Marine general, he was trained better and there is no reason that we shouldn't expect better of him.

I retired from the Navy and for a few years served alongside Marines. They were great. I knew several high ranking personnel in the Navy. For the most part the higher ranking an officer the better he was. They were concerned about their troops. They were honorable and morale people. Therefore I an so perplexed by Gen. Kelly. He had a sterling reputation among his troops and his peers. Yet now he seems to be of low moral standards, bigoted and misogynistic. What has happened to him?
