conquering a beast of a car expo || SEMA show

You have been asking me to go to a trades show for a while so of course I ended up at a car industry expo. SEMA Show is a massive car industry and special equipment event that takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Let's talk ugly concept cars, utilizing space in a convention center, ride alongs, oh and booth babes because that practice is alive and well in the car industry.

note!!! I filmed this before the Las Vegas F1 GP obviously but we had to delay it's release hence why it's coming out post f1 race. I still think it was weird they didn't have anything talking about the GP on site outside of the drivers being on the monorail.

I’d love to see you go to the Oddities and Curiosities expo. I live about 6 hours from the nearest location they stop at, and I can’t find any videos or reviews about it. I know it’s huge, I just don’t know if it’s worth it.

Also the hidden handle thing is typically aerodynamic related. Sports cars (even from the 80s) did hidden tricks like this and I’m sure EVs do this to some extent now as well. I get just as mad about the amount of screens in cars and changing the most used buttons into some hidden feature in an unreliable infotainment system.

My brother was there! He does youth racing with the goal of getting into Nascar, and was invited to SEMA the last two years cause of some connections he's made in the industry (which is crazy cause it's an adults only event). I don't really care about cars or racing despite them being my family's huge dedication in furthering his career lmao, but it's so funny to me that my interest immediately tripled in this event now knowing that he + my dad and stepmom *possibly* walked by Swell 😂

A lot of the car related content creators that I watch do custom car builds for SEMA, but almost never actually show off the event while they are there. It's kind of weird to me that they make a big deal of getting ready for the event but then like.... don't do anything with it once they're there?

I think you should go to a rat rod show. Either it will be entertaining seeing you be really mad about people putting a clear coat over petina, or you'll learn to fall in love with them as I have.

It's about keeping the years of wear and all the stories it tells while not having to worry about it falling apart further, plus there is something magical about a car that looks like a junker but is actually really solid

the clear coating the rust thing is to stop it from rusting further, they like it at that exact level of rusty and dont want it getting worse to risk actual structure damage

My dad has worked in the aftermarket car parts field my entire life and seeing SEMA brought up on this channel is wild to me lol, I just know this as the Vegas convention he was always at during Halloween growing up.
