The reason that prodigiously talented Ajax team under this manager got to a European semi final is exactly the same reason they were dumped out by Spurs. Set up for one style of play and an inability to adapt in games without an elite group of players was always gonna result in this degree of performance.

Casemiro does not protect the back line anymore Erickson was moving faster than he was. Amrabat sitting in front of the back 4 like the last 5 games of last season looks like a dream now. I think ugarte can do it as well but i worry the coaching staff is having the 6 crash too far forward and thats not something we can do yet personnel wise it just leaves us too open.

I'm pretty much done with ETH, last season tried to give him the benefit of the doubt due to all the injuries and Casemiro looking off pace, but this season he's got an almost full squad, and the issues are still there no matter who he chooses. The fact that a viable strategy to play against us is, 'get the ball in your own half and run with it in a straight line' is the biggest red flag for me, it's one thing if we are getting outplayed, but simple strategies are working against us.

I actually see a big problem with the players more than TH, and it's gonna be even more obvious after TH is gone.

I think the problem defensively is playing the falseback system and trying to overload the midfield with dalot and mazroui. Some games it works but I think you have to be able to tell when it's leaving you vulnerable.

I’m TH in but Who in their right mind would play Casemiro & Eriksen in the middle away from home for 90 mins. Absolute madness he’s sacking himself. Like having fresh air in midfield. I understand criticizing the manager, but not for subbing Rashford. McKola saying it’s the worst he’s ever seen, meanwhile others saying we’re asking the defense to do too much. Because Rashford isn’t getting back in defense. ~10 crosses in from our left side, & 2 goals conceded first half.

I love Marcus, but the effort levels aren’t there if he isn’t attacking. Just lazily watching players drive past him.

I’ve got one for you. Suddenly, we are up 2-0 against one of Portugal’s best sides at their home - SUB either Casemiro or Eriksen for Ugarte there and then! Ten Hag never seems to be able to shore up a game.
