Shanghai Tower, highest observation deck in the world, China

The Shanghai Tower is a megatall skyscraper located in the Pudong district of Shanghai, China.

The building is currently the second tallest building in the world with an architectural height of 2,073 feet (631.85 meters).

The observation deck found on floor 121 at 1841.37 feet (561.25 meters) is currently the world's highest observation deck. There are also observation decks located on floors 118 and 119.

Three ultra-high speed elevators have been utilized to transport passengers to the first observation deck. One of the three installed elevators can reach speeds of 46 mph (73.8 kph), making it the fastest elevator in the world.

The journey seen in this video from level B2 to the observation deck on floor 118, a journey of 120 floors, took only 55 seconds at a speed of 18 meters per second or 40 miles per hour.

In the video you look down at the, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Jin Mao buildings. In New York there was an observation floor at the Chrysler Building, When the Empire State Building opened, it was only a matter of time till the observation floor at the Chrysler Building closed, for everyone was going to the Empire State Building.Over time, will the observation floor at the Jin Mao close? Do people still go to the Jin Mao observation?

That is an impressive piece of engineering. However, I lived in Los Angeles for several years in the 50's and 60's. That's not fog, that's pollution. It's a pity with so many of these super buildings that bragging rights seems to take precedence over health and welfare of the population.

Maybe people should really know some commen sense like "it's noramal to be cloudy up in the air". I went to the peak in Hong Kong 3 times and saw nothing but fog. Yet I was not stupid to think it was smog.

Damn Burj Khalifa is not worth it. It’s the tallest building at 828 yet highest public observation view is at damn 555 metres. Shanghai Tower is 632 metres to the tip but highest public observation view is 561 metres. 6 metres (20 feet) does mean alot
