Access to Justice Lab Showcase: Introduction

Harvard Law School’s Access to Justice Lab hosted a daylong symposium on April 19 to showcase different facets of its work.
-Harvard Law School Dean Martha Minow kicked off the event and highlighted the crisis in access to justice.
-Professor David Wilkins, director of the Center for the Legal Profession, introduced the center and A2J Lab Faculty Director Jim Greiner.
-A2J Lab Faculty Director, Professor Jim Greiner discussed the lab's mission and introduced the work of the lab.
-A2J Lab Research Director Chris Griffin discussed the A2J's marquee project, the evaluation of the Public Safety Assessment (PSA).
-A2J Lab Associate Director of Field Research Erika Rikard discussed a case study re: legal services providers and triage decisions that they make in the context of intimate partner violence.

The lab, which applies scientific and statistical research to the questions of who gets legal assistance and how much difference it makes, aims to revolutionize thinking about access to legal help.
