Green Screen Hair - How to key shots with fine hair detail, even from an 8-Bit Camera

This short tutorial covers how you can deal with a Greenscreen shot that includes lots of difficult hair detail. The trick is to use two mattes, a Core matte and an Edge matte, along with two Viewer windows. The two Viewer windows allow you to edit the Mattes and see the results at the same time.

It also shows how to use the Pixel Motion Blur effect to add the correct motion blur to the Matte that we create.

The footage comes from an 8-Bit camera, a Canon 5D Mk3, to make it even more difficult.

A fairly good key. I did find this particular process a bit of a fiddle, although I can see its value in some circumstances.

Thank you very much for this in depth tutorial on the most frustrating part of greenscreen for me - hair. It seems no matter what program I use, I always get noise or jitters in hair, especially blond hair. Your method works well although I wish Keylight did a better job with hair from a single layer, click and adjust point of view. It has been around for quite some time. Anyway, thanks!

a faster method is possible : same key as you done for the core, rendered with "intermediate result" in keylight, and just add a key cleaner effet after it, tweak it, then add the spill supressor. Key cleaner is doing an AMAZING job most of the time ;)
